The first step is an exam with Dr. Blalock to determine whether a CEREC crown is the right solution for your tooth. He will evaluate the extent of the damage or decay, review any x-rays needed, and walk you through your options. Crowns are most often recommended for broken or cracked teeth, deep cavities, failing large fillings, or teeth that have undergone root canal therapy.
Once you are approved for treatment, Dr. Blalock will prepare the tooth and take precise digital impressions using CEREC's 3D scanning technology. There is no need for traditional putty impressions. These digital scans are used to design your custom crown right here in our office, ensuring an accurate and comfortable fit.
While you wait, our CEREC machine mills your custom crown from a high-quality ceramic block, right in our office. This process typically takes less than an hour and produces a durable, natural-looking restoration that is precisely shaped to match your bite and blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth.
