The CEREC crown process is quick and easy, and it takes only a single, 1-2 hour appointment. To begin, Dr. Blalock will clean and numb your mouth. You can also be sedated if you feel it will make you more comfortable. Next, he will remove any enamel that has been damaged or affected by decay, then shape it into a strong platform to which your CEREC crown can be attached.Dr. Blalock will use a handheld scanner to capture a 3D image of your mouth and upload it to our CEREC system. Using specialized software, he will design your crown based on this 3D image of your mouth. Next, he will place a block of tooth-colored porcelain in the CEREC machine, which will then cut and trim it into the proper shape based on Dr. Blalock’s design. Once your crown is complete, Dr. Blalock will make sure it fits properly, then bond it into place with dental cement.
