The first step is an exam with Dr. Blalock to assess the affected tooth and determine whether a filling is the right course of treatment. He will look for signs of decay such as visible holes, dark spots, or areas of sensitivity, and may take x-rays to get a clearer picture of what is happening beneath the surface. If a filling is recommended, he will walk you through what to expect before moving forward.
Once you are ready to proceed, Dr. Blalock will apply local anesthesia to numb the area around the affected tooth, ensuring the procedure is virtually painless. When the area is fully numb, he will carefully remove the decayed portion of the tooth and clean the area to prepare it for the filling material.
